Frequently asked questions
How do I create a game?
Tap "Start New Game" from the home screen. Choose 9 or 18 holes, enter your course name, then invite players by sharing a link or selecting from your friends list. Once teams are set, you're ready to play.
What if I lose signal during a round?
No problem! Flip It Golf works completely offline. Log holes, call flips, track scores — everything works without a connection. Your game automatically syncs when you're back online.
How do chance flips work?
After any shot, the opposing team can tap "Flip It!" to call a chance flip. A coin flip animation plays:
- REDO — The player must re-hit the shot
- CONTINUE — The shot stands, but the challenger loses a flip
Each team starts with 2 chance flips. Use them wisely!
How do I earn more flips?
- Birdie: Your team earns +1 chance flip
- Eagle or better: Your team earns an automatic flip (guaranteed redo, no coin toss needed)
What's an automatic flip?
An automatic flip forces a redo without a coin toss. You earn one when you make an eagle or better. You can even use it on yourself (like when your teammate misses a 2-footer).
Can anyone log scores?
Yes! Any player in the game can log hole results for any team. No designated scorekeeper needed. Just like real golf — whoever has their phone out can enter the score.
How does settle up work?
After a game ends, tap "Settle Up" to see a list of players. If someone has added their Venmo or CashApp username, you'll see a button to open their payment link directly.
Important: We don't handle any money. The links just make it easy to open Venmo or CashApp.
How do I add my Venmo or CashApp username?
Go to Profile → Edit Profile and enter your username in the Venmo or CashApp field. This makes it easier for others to pay you after a game.
Can I play with people who aren't my friends?
Yes! Share a game invite link with anyone. They'll need to create an account to join, but don't have to be on your friends list to play.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → Settings → Delete My Account.
This permanently deletes:
- Your profile
- All your game history
- Your photos
- Your team memberships
This action cannot be undone.
Why did my flip go the other way?
The coin flip uses random number generation — it's genuinely random. Sometimes luck isn't on your side. That's golf!
Can I use the app on multiple devices?
Yes! Sign in with the same account and your games will sync across devices.
The app is slow or crashing. What should I do?
- Make sure you're on the latest version (check the App Store for updates)
- Try force-closing and reopening the app
- Restart your phone
- If issues persist, email us at support@flipitgolf.com with your device model and iOS version
